Projectdetails

Description

The Online Lexicon of Systematic Theology (SysLex) aims to make research in systematic theology openly accessible (open access) to an interested public. It presents dogmatic, ethical, and philosophical-theological topics in relation to current issues. SysLex is currently under development and is expected to be available online in late spring 2025.

The lexicon is designed to be problem-oriented, interconnected, and diverse.

Problem-oriented: Each article starts from classical topics and terms of systematic theology, analyzing them in terms of the specific, and especially contemporary, issues of Christian religious practice and systematic theological scholarship they address.

Interconnected: These articles are linked to one another through a hyperlinked structure.

Diverse: The lexicon aims to reflect the diversity of Protestant theology, taking into account both established and alternative perspectives.

The lexicon is managed by an editorial board. The academic quality is ensured by a scientific advisory board and a peer-review process.

SysLex is implemented using the Open Encyclopedia System, an open-source software for digital encyclopedias developed at the Center for Digital Systems (CeDiS) at Freie Universität Berlin. The "Fachinformationsdienst Theologie" provides hosting, ensuring the sustainable preservation of the lexicon.

The project is funded by the Digital Innovation Fund of the EKD.
