Description
The close reading of the Amsterdam School has resulted in several inter/intratextual links with other biblical books, this is shown by the example of the Book of Ruth, and two studies on Ruth by representatives of the Amsterdam School, Deurloo and Van Duin, and Smelik. Missing is the attention for the characteristics of west-semitic poetry as a whole and the broader culture of the ancient Near East, from which the biblical texts originated. (Session: Stylistics and the Hebrew Bible).
