Description

In 2019, the Sociaal Cultureel Planbureau already had conducted research into citizens’ attitudes towards climate change and climate policy. It turned out that they had the wish to update this research. In 2024 they added, in cooperation with the PThU, two perspectives:
1) the perspective of people’s willingness to change their lifestyle: to what extent and under what circumstances are citizens willing to adjust their energy use, consumption patterns, eating habits, car use, flight habits, and immediate green environment for the climate? [slide 5b]
2) the perspective of religion and how this does or does not influence people attitude, behaviour and willingness to change. To what extent do religious people’s beliefs shape their views, behaviour and willingness to change in relation to the climate challenge?
This contribution presents the most important findings.
